General English CoursesStudents may join the course at any time of the year and normally follow a course of 15 or 25 hours per week unless otherwise arranged. These are eight course levels from Beginner to High Intermediate / Advanced.Class Size: The average size of ELC classes is seven students per group with a maximum of fourteen. Entrance Testing: All students take an entrance test of two - three hours duration on the first day of the course to determine their level of ability in English. They then join the group most appropriate to their level. Au Pairs & Students: Students and Au Pairs who are unable to attend every day may join classes on two mornings or afternoons per week. Course Content:
Course materials will include the use of standard texts, specifically prepared materials by ELC, listening centres and audio visual systems. Certificate and Reports: At the end of the course all students will be given a graded Certificate of Attendance and Progress. On request a detailed report will be send every month to parents or sponsoring organisations.
Excursions & Activities: ELC arranges visits at the weekends during the summer to places of historical and cultural interest, eg Oxford, Windsor, London. Activities such as tennis, ten-pin bowling, football, volley-ball, golf, horse-riding, swimming, basketball, badminton, discos and theatres are all available locally. | |
